PSA Testing and Other Activities
On Saturday, February 15th, Cancer Support Services (CSS) held its first prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing for 2014.
CSS continues to promote early detection through the PSA test has been widely used to screen men for prostate cancer.
Testing takes place at the CSS “Arborside” Belmont Road, St. Michel office every three months.
Last Saturday’s turnout was another clear indication that men are taking charge of their health, noted Mrs. Antoinette Hunte, a Nurse with Spectrol Medical Laboratory Ltd.
“Men are taking the initiative and having the test done. We see men taking the test for the first time, and they there are those who repeat the test even though the previous results were good. These men who repeat would say “you never know if there is a change”. Even during our discussions they would share what they are doing differently in terms of their diet – I can say there are men who do care about their health,” she stated.
This year, Cancer Support Services is celebrating its 18th anniversary. President, Gloria Antonia Hinds is inviting the public to join the CSS family as they not only celebrate their accomplishments but chart the way forward.
She revealed that the PSA testing is part of the activities planned and will continue on May 17th, August 16th and November 15th.
